So aside from the two extra teeth Monster has been getting in up top, he's also getting in FOUR teeth on the bottom. He's a real marathon teether!
He's also now at 15 months outgrown his size 12 month pants, so we had to go do some shopping to make sure he had enough bottoms (and shorts) for the upcoming warmer months. We had some fun, though MiniMonster picked out a pair of shorts he liked that his dad definitely didn't. ((Colorful blue plaid))
He also got some new shirts with Dinos on them ((Dino's have entered his interest)) and a shirt with a motorcycle on it. Awesome stuff, and I think he'll have fun with them. We also took him to Outback Steakhouse, and he drank lemonade out of one of his sippy cups, tried the Cheesy fries ((which have bacon on them. He rejected the ranch dipping sauce.)) And he even tried a nice thin cut slice of steak.
He unfortunately didn't nap most of the day, except for being in the car. On top of this he was UP since Five Thirty, and then stayed up till five in the afternoon, before he finally gave up and let us tuck him in for a nap. (PHEW.)
I decided also to ring in spring, much as it doesn't feel like it, by baking an apple pie, which is cooking as I type. Like Apple Butter it's delicious finished, but I wish there wasn't so much cutting involved because it gives me a hand/wrist cramp from all the apple-slicing.
Should be fun seeing how MiniMonster likes apple pie though, and we'll have nice fresh pie for everyone tomorrow.

So yeah...
My father and my sister are off to Florida for various reasons, including seeing my nieces son, who we shall refer to as Durante...

...I'll just let you figure out why. I'm sure you'll come up with a reason.
Any way, they're off to Florida, the land of college age idiots, retired people, frogs the size of dinner plates and more bugs than I ever want to deal with. Oh and MegaCon. That I wouldn't mind seeing someday, but it's just really not in the cards at the moment. They're headed that way.
As a result, MiniMonster and I cruised off to have lunch with Grandma S. That was pretty fun, though we arrived too early for Wendys to have opened, so we walked through Pier One (they had an very cute very SOFT plush Owl that I would have purchased for Mini (who buried his face in it and hugged it), had it not been 24$)
Since the Owl was too expensive we didn't buy anything, but wandered down a few stores and walked through the used bookstore and walked out with a couple of books for Mini. ((Books I can handle.))
Since he really really likes the Guardians of Gahoole movie, I do kind of want to find him an really kick-ass plush Owl, but I haven't seen anything that makes me want to buy it, or at least not at the listed price. There was an INCREDIBLE art-doll/cloth sculpture Owl from an artist on Deviant Art of an Barn Owl. Really a breathtaking piece, but at 250$... I'd rather buy the one at Pier One, it could probably handle the abuse! I'm not arguing with the price tag, there was an great deal of work in that Barn Owl, but I couldn't personally justify it.
Otherwise I'm debating seeing if Dave will go with me to look at the new Ford Focus model, and see if I like the trunk design. I'm a little tired of popping my trunk open with the windshield scraper when we get ice and snow. And other than that... I'm debating asking if we can trade in my tired little Trac-Phone. It's had a good run, but the battery's aren't doing so hot these days, and the iPhone 3GS is looking pretty shine-tastic.
Mmm. Maybe I can see if they'll get me one for Mothers Day.

Tumbling
http://knittingnightgaunt.tumblr.com/
So I created a Tumblr account. Mostly the whole set up looks like an excuse to share memes and links, but I did it anyway. No particular reason, it just looked like fun.

Inverse Proportions
Have you ever felt as though certain skills in your life balanced themselves inversely, and that on the days you did one really well the other one felt like it wasn't going so hot at all?
I've had a couple days like that. It seems like the days where I feel like I'm doing grade A at the mom business (A rare occurance) are the days when I -completely hash- dinner.
It's kind of a obnoxious trade off if you ask me. :c I want to do both.

The Revenge of Winter
So apparently there was a new attack of winter weather last night, only it missed our town... but about five miles. If you head five miles north of us, more or less, everything is covered in ice and there are trees down everywhere, including closed roads.
Auntie Roo and Grandma S actually spent about an hour chopping a tree out of their driveway, only to find other roads are closed, so they went to town to get water and stuff in case the power goes out. Supposedly it's supposed to clear up after tomorrow, but it sounds like things are really messy in the mean time, which unfortuantely means I have to put off going and getting my photos and *cough* the new Pokemon game.
Also: I can't beleive it took a study to figure this out.

More Updates
Well here's the Shawl as it stands this morning. It's just barely wide enough for the top points to go around my shoulders, and thats a BIG change from yesterdays photo. I think thats not too bad for only three days work.
It's a lot easier once you get into a rhythm, and I shamelessly admit to putting some tv on in the background and tuning out so that my mind wouldn't be entirely focused on the repetitiveness of what I was doing or how it was getting along with the strain on my wrist.
I think it's the first time I've actually felt like I might, actually, reallly get this damn thing done by deadline, though I'm now going to knock on wood as I say that because now somethings going to happen to try and prevent that.
I also took a detail shot of the center 'spine'. I've got stitch markers on either side of that center stitch to show me where to make the yarnovers, and thought I'd share the interesting effect it creates. Not only in the loops, but the way the stitches tilt outward from the center bar.
I kinda wish I'd had a slightly variegated pink yarn on hand just to see how it looked with the color changes, but I think the decorative increases will also help make it slightly more interesting on the whole anyway. Sorry about the camera strap getting into the picture, that was my bad.
I also finally had the opportunity to try MiniMonster in a shirt that his Auntie Roo has been ITCHING to see him in, so here ya go.
